DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Thailand has expressed a strong interest in expanding its industrial and commercial ties with Bangladesh, highlighting the country's rapid economic progress and attractive investment climate.

This commitment was discussed today during a courtesy call by the Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh, Thitiporn Chirasawadi, on Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the Ministry of Industries in the city, said a press release.

During the meeting, both parties discussed various issues of mutual interest, specifically focusing on increasing bilateral cooperation within the industrial sector; expanding investment opportunities, technology transfer from Thailand to boost productivity in Bangladesh's agriculture and fisheries sectors; and the development and potential of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Muktadir emphasized that there is significant scope to further bolster trade and investment relations.

He specifically pointed out that joint ventures could be established in sectors such as food processing, light engineering, and tourism-related industries.

The Minister highlighted that the government's industry-friendly policies and ongoing infrastructure development have created a favourable environment for foreign investors. 

He invited Thai investors to capitalize on these emerging opportunities.

At the meeting, Ambassador Chirasawadi praised Bangladesh's rapid economic trajectory, noting that it has become highly attractive to international investors. 

She reaffirmed Thailand's interest in broadening the industrial and commercial relationship between the two nations.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism regarding future collaborations, including the exchange of business delegations and the continuation of regular dialogues to foster joint initiatives.

Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, Md Obaidur Rahman, along with other senior officials from both the ministry and the Thai embassy also attended the meeting.
