DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bank (BB) today issued a directive regarding the operations of financial institutions following the government's announcement of state mourning and a public holiday in honour of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
 
According to a notification from the Cabinet Division, the government has decided to observe official state mourning from Wednesday to Friday.
 
This decision follows over the death of the three-time former Prime Minister.
 
In alignment with an executive order from the Ministry of Public Administration, a public holiday has been declared for tomorrow.
 
All finance companies will remain closed on that day.
 
However, the central bank’s directive includes a provision for essential financial activities.
