DHAKA, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) today announced that all online value-added tax (VAT)-related activities will now be conducted through the eVAT System, following the renaming of the existing iVAS platform.
According to a press release of the NBR, the decision was taken to eliminate confusion arising from the similar pronunciation of iVAS (VAT automation system) and iBAS++, the government's integrated budgeting and accounting system.
To ensure greater clarity for taxpayers, businesses and stakeholders, the iVAS System has been formally rebranded as the eVAT System, while all its functions and services will remain unchanged.
The NBR said the eVAT System will serve as the single digital platform for conducting a wide range of VAT-related activities.
These include online VAT registration, electronic submission of VAT returns, and all A-Challan and e-payment-based transactions.
In addition, the system allows the submission of input-output coefficients for VAT revenue collection through Mushak 4.3, a key compliance requirement for manufacturers.
The eVAT System also facilitates real-time VAT collection through PKI software-based applications, strengthening transparency and efficiency in revenue mobilisation.
The revenue authority emphasised that the transition is part of its broader efforts to modernise VAT administration and make compliance easier for taxpayers through digital solutions.
The NBR noted that work is ongoing to further enhance the user-friendliness, capacity and effectiveness of the eVAT System, encouraging wider adoption across the VAT ecosystem.
With the rebranding, the NBR reiterated its commitment to expanding online services, reducing procedural complexities and improving overall governance in VAT administration through technology-driven reforms.
