DHAKA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - Stocks today extended its losing streak as cautious investors continued paring back their market exposure.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, fell by 22.5 points to settle at 4,831 points as against 4,854 points in the previous trading session.
Market indices remained downbeat for most of the session as persistent broad-based selling pressure continued to weigh on momentum.
Although bargain hunters attempted a mid-session recovery, their efforts fell short to lift the market from entrenched pessimism in the absence of any major trigger for the market’s revival.

On the sectoral front, Textile (15.9%) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by food (14.2%) and pharma (12.0%) sectors. Almost all the sectors displayed dismal returns, out of which Jute (-2.1%), paper (-1.5%) and gen ins (-1.6%) exhibited the most negative returns on the bourse today.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 66 advanced, 253 declined and 78 remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a red zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 38.2 points and 69.8 points, respectively.
