NBR introduces digital truck monitoring system at Land Ports

DHAKA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has introduced a new digital sub-module titled "Truck Movement" under the ASYCUDA World system to electronically track the movement of cargo trucks entering Bangladesh from India.

According to a NBR press release issued today, the system aims to digitally record information related to the entry of imported goods-laden trucks as well as the return of empty trucks. Earlier, such operations were conducted through a manual process.

The pilot operation of the new sub-module was launched on December 15, 2025, at Benapole Customs House, the country's largest land port. Based on the outcomes of the pilot phase, the NBR plans to roll out the system across all land ports in the near future.

The newly introduced module will enable customs authorities to store accurate data on the arrival and departure of each Indian truck, calculate the duration of stay, and ensure effective real-time monitoring.

Officials believe that the system will significantly improve data management, curb revenue leakage, and enhance transparency and accountability in customs operations.

In addition, the digital tracking mechanism is expected to play an important role in strengthening border security by providing real-time reports on truck movements.

The NBR stated that the nationwide implementation of the Truck Movement sub-module will further modernise customs management and facilitate smoother cross-border trade through enhanced automation and oversight.
