CHATTOGRAM, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Inland Container Depot Association (BICDA) has postponed its planned stoppage of operational activities for one month following a fruitful discussion with the authorities.
Earlier, BICDA had announced that private container depots, known as off-docks, would halt all operations from 6 am today to press home their demands.
The decision to suspend the program came after a tripartite meeting among BICDA, Chattogram Customs House (CCH) and Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) held at CPA Bhaban this evening.
CPA Secretary Omar Faruk told BSS that BICDA agreed to defer its protest programme for a month after receiving assurances that their demands would be reviewed positively.
BICDA leaders pledged full cooperation in maintaining smooth export-import activities by continuing full-scale container-handling operations at their depots.
BICDA Secretary General Ruhul Amin Sikder told journalists after the meeting that they postponed the programme as CPA Chairman Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah had invited them for talks and assured them of an acceptable solution within the next month.
A total of 19 private container depots in and around Chattogram city handle all export-bound containers, a major share of empty containers and 65 types of import cargo.
