DHAKA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has exempted excise duty on air tickets for Bangladeshi pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj in 2026, aiming to further reduce the financial burden on the country’s Hajj aspirants.
In a notification issued on December 7, the NBR said the exemption has been granted in line with the government’s continued initiative to keep Hajj expenses at a reasonable level and make the pilgrimage more affordable for ordinary devotees.
The measure reflects a similar exemption provided for the 2025 Hajj.
According to the NBR, the waiver of excise duty will reduce airfare costs by around Tk 5,000 for each pilgrim for their round-trip journey between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
