DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) – The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some 80,000 metric tons of fertilizer and 20,000 metric tons of phosphoric acid aimed at ensuring uninterrupted supply of such agricultural input for the upcoming agricultural season.
The approval came from the 49th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held today with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat today.
The meeting approved import of 20,000 metric tons of Phosphoric Acid for DAP Fertilizer Company Ltd at a cost of Taka 194 crore, with per-ton pricing of US$745.20 from Gentrade FZE, UAE.
The Committee also endorsed import of 40,000 metric tons of fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia, costing Taka 203.09 crore.
In addition, the Committee recommended approval of procuring 40,000 metric tons of MOP fertilizer under the state-level agreement with Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) for Taka 172.65 crore to be imported by the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
Officials said the approved imports will stabilize farm input supply and support national food security targets.
