DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - Robi Axiata PLC, one of the largest mobile telecommunications operators in Bangladesh in terms of revenue, coverage and subscriber base, has handed over its annual dividend cheque for the fund of Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation (BLWF).

The mobile operator company donated Taka 6,14,93,580, which is 0.5 percent of its annual dividend, to the fund as per the Bangladesh labour law 2006, said an official handout here today. 

The cheque was handed over to Labour, Employment and Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain at his office in the secretariat here today.

Mohammad Rabiul Alam, Head of risk and compliance, and Sharif Shah Jamal Raj, director, public affairs and sustainability, handed over the cheque to the Adviser on behalf of the mobile operator company.

At the programme, Labour, Employment and Shipping Adviser said such of the initiative of the corporate organizations is highly commendable for the overall welfare of the labours. “This financial assistance will play important for the socio-economic development of the labours working at the institutional and non-institutional sector”, he added.

This assistance will be used for financial support of the families of distressed and deceased labours, stipend of the students and emergency treatment purpose.   

Labour and Employment Secretary Dr M Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan and BLWF’s Director General M Munir Hossen Khan were also present.
