5-day BSCIC Bijoy Mela-2025 begins in capital

DHAKA, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS)- On the occasion of the month of victory, Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has arranged a five-day fair featuring different products of arte facts and handicrafts made by the BSCIC registered entrepreneurs.

As per the provided schedule, the fair ground will remain open to the public from 10 am to 8 pm every day till December 5.

Manufacturers and the entrepreneurs are featuring locally made products including leather bag, shoes, belt, wooden toothbrush, spoons, cutlery sets, Handmade Katha, Nakhshi Katha, Jamdani Sharee, Manipuri Sharee, dresses, bangles and etc from a total 60 stalls set on the ground floor of the BSCIC central office in the city.

Speaking to BSS, one of the entrepreneurs engineer Raiyan expressed that he graduated from an Engineering College and worked at a bank for two years. Later, he invested himself in entrepreneurship and initiated Rans Leather Craft.

"Job felt like tiresome to me and I shifted toward business. Now I make different types of products using local raw materials like leather, wood and bamboo. My products are both friendly to environment and cheap," Raiyan said marking the fair as valuable meeting point between the entrepreneurs, buyers and customers.

He expressed that the products he produces can attract foreign investors and he dreams to export his products one day.

Another entrepreneur Hena Begum hailed from Jhenaidah set up a stall named 'Hena Handicraft' at the fair. She is featuring Katha at her stall.

She said, "All my products are handmade. I collect the products from various places but most of the products come from Jhenaidah."

Hena's business is actually based on an online platform and she does not have any store.

Expression her opinion about the fair, she noted that many customers came to see products and examine those as there is no scope for examining the products in Online Platform. Buyers meet them in the fair and sells go up.

"After buying single product, many buyers later knocked me for more checking the products quality," she added.

Visiting the fair, it was found that people are rushing to the fair and checking on the products.

Md. Riaz Uddin lives in Tejgaon came to visit the fair this afternoon. Asked how he got informed about the fair, he said he and his friend roaming around and the fair catches his eye."Beautiful and aesthetic products have been displayed at the fair," he added.
