Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, shed 8.5 points and settled at 5,010 points as against 5,018 points in the previous trading session.

Market analysts observed that investors’ participation in both sides of the trading fence induced a mild volatile momentum throughout the session, while sellers turning a bit dominant by the latter half of the session pushed market indices into negative territory again.

However, insurance stocks saw some renewed buying interest as opportunistic investors sought potential short-term gains.

Meanwhile, market turnover fell by 17.1% to Taka 5.3 billion from Taka 6.4 billion in the previous session.

On the sectoral front, Fuel & Power (14.1%) accounted for the highest share of turnover, followed by Engineering (13.6%) and Textile (11.0%). Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which General Insurance (3.5%), Life Insurance (1.3%) and Fuel & Power (0.8%) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse today, while Paper (-1.1%), Food (-0.7%) and Financial Institution (-0.7%) exerted some corrections.

Of the 397 issues traded, 156 advanced, 173 declined, and 68 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a negative zone. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined by 5.5 points and 13.4 points, respectively.
