
RAJSHAHI, July 5, 2021 (BSS)- Regional office of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling essential commodities among the less-income group of people from today aimed at mitigating their financial constraints amid the strict lockdown.
The commodities including sugar, lentil and bottled soyabean will be sold on mobile trucks at eight points in the city through the enlisted dealers until July 29.
TCB Godawon Officer Abdullah Al Mamun said the dealers have been asked to sell the goods through maintaining social distance to stem the Covid-19 spread.
He said each of the dealers will get 2,000 kilograms of goods including 600 kilograms of sugar, 1000 kilograms of edible oil and 400 kilograms of lentil for sale every day.
Senior Executive of TCB Rajshahi Regional Office Rabiul Murshed told BSS that the government has been giving essential commodities to cope with the pandemic situation.
Rahima Begum, who came to buy TCB goods in Ranibazar area today, terms the government initiative as good. This step will benefit many low-income group people.
She said the dealers are selling sugar and lentils at Taka 55 per kg each and soybean oil at Taka 100.
Rabiul Murshed said that they are selling different types of consumer goods at fixed prices through the appointed dealers.
The City Corporation and respective district administration will continue regular monitoring side by side with the TCB authorities to prevent any sort of irregularity and mismanagement in selling goods.
He said 137 dealers were appointed for selling goods in the four districts.
For the benefit of the people, the selling activities will continue till July 29 to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, he added.
