DHAKA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) - More than 17 lakh taxpayers filed their income tax returns through online in the fiscal year 2024-25 while more than 21 lakh taxpayers have completed registration for e-returns.
In a press release issued today, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) mentioned that a total of 1,712,492 taxpayers filed their income tax returns online, while 2,165,321 taxpayers completed e-return registrations during the fiscal year.
NBR also mentioned that this shift is a "landmark step" under its broader automation programme, for making tax services more accessible, efficient, and taxpayer-friendly.
The simplified online return submission system has received a strong response from taxpayers, who are increasingly filing their returns voluntarily, said the authority.
The NBR remains committed to delivering uninterrupted services year-round, including the provision for instant online issuance of income tax certificates.
Additionally, under Section 180 of the Income Tax Act, 2023, taxpayers are allowed to submit revised returns online within 180 days of filing the original return if they detect any errors or omissions. This facility, the NBR noted, can be accessed conveniently from home.
The authority thanked all who submitted returns online and encouraged taxpayers to continue using the year-round digital services for return filing and certificate collection.
