DHAKA, April 9, 2024 (BSS) - Stock market closed flat today on the last trading day before the start of the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 3.85 points or 0.07 per cent to stand at 5,864.09. The Shariah DSES closed the day with 1.26 points up at 1,282.30. But, the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 1.03 point down at 2,032.37.

At DSE, out of the day's 396 securities, prices of 186 securities closed higher against 157 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were KARNAPHULI, DESHBANDHU, SIMTEX, GLDNJMF and IPDC.

The major losing companies were NEWLINE, BRACBANK, SHEPHERD, KTL and MTB.

MALEKSPIN topped the turnover list followed by FUWANGFOOD, SPCERAMICS, CENTRALPHL and EMERALDOIL.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 45.32 points up at 16733.16.

At CSE, 196 issues were traded. Of those, 107 closed higher and 63 closed lower when 36.70 lakh shares worth Taka 9.82 crore changed hands.
