Stocks maintain gaining streak

 

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2021 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 64.67 points or 0.94 per cent to settle at 6,981.06. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 22.12 points to finish at 2,496.84 and 12.99 points closing at 1,508.66.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 24,743 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 23,663.63 million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 373 issues traded, 237 closed green, 105 in the red and 31 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by BNICL, Beximco Pharma, GPH Ispat and LHBL.

SAMATALETH was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.98 per cent while GREENDELMF was the worst loser, losing 9.37 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 13.02 points to settle at 1465.47 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 102.25 points to close at 12,183.32.

Of the issues traded, 183 advanced, 105 declined and 35 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 2.94 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 88.30 crore.
