Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

DHAKA, Jan 30, 2023 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - today plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

 DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 9.49 points or 0.15 percent to 6,278.84. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 5.43 points to finish at 2,225.83 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.70 points to close at 1,370.27.

 Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, remained low and amounted to Taka 5094.83 million, which was Taka 4,891.74 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 345 issues traded, 140 declined, 32 advanced and 173 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

GENEXIL topped the turnover chart, followed by BPML, AAMRANET, EHL and Interco.

 EASTRNLUB was the day's top gainer, posting 6.24 percent gain while AAMRATECH was the worst loser, losing 8.38 per cent.

 The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 37.63 points to settle at 18,533.30 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 22.66 points to close at 11,109.69.

 Of the issues traded, 62 declined, 25 advanced and 65 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

 The port city's bourse traded 51.06 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 12.88 crore.
