PANCHAGARH. Nov 8, 2022 (BSS) - Farmers in the district has started Aman harvesting in their respective land with much enthusiasm.
The farmers are happy over bumper production and fair price of Aman paddy in the current season. Due to favorable climatic condition and easy availability of fertilizers, the farmers have achieved good yield.
Farmer Malek of Sobuspara village in Debiganj upazila said, he cultivated Aman paddy on five bighas of land and got bumper production. Malek got 75 maunds of paddy from his land. Per maund paddy is being sold at Taka 1,200 in the local hat and bazar. He earned Taka 50,000 after selling paddy and meeting all expenses.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) of Panchagarh office sources said, about 99,695 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation in the district with the production target of 3,26,644 metric tonnes of food grain.
Deputy director of DAE of Panchagarh Md Rias Uddin told BSS that the department has given quality Aman seeds, fertilizers and others agri-inputs among the farmers at free of cost. The department also gave modern technology training to the farmers for boosting the overall production.
