JAMALPUR, Sept 9, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 700 small and marginal farmers of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive for the cultivation of Mashkalai (Black gram) in the current Kharif-2 season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken an incentive programme for increasing the interest of the farmers in
Mashkalai cultivation.
A total of Taka 7,35,000 has been allocated for this purpose, DAE sources said.
According to the DAE office sources, each of the farmer will get five-kilogram Black gram seeds, 10-kilogram Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10-kilogram Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer for Mashkalai cultivation of one Bigha of land.
The incentive will be disbursed among 100 farmers in Jamalpur Sadar upazila, 100 farmers in Sarishabari upazila, 90 farmers in Melandaha upazila, 120 farmers in Islampur upazila, 110 farmers in Dewanganj upazila, 100 farmers in Madarganj upazila and 80 farmers in Bakshiganj upazila of the district.
Deputy Director of DAE, Zakia Sultana said the incentive programme was taken to encourage farmers in Black Gram cultivation for increasing its production.
The seeds and fertilizers will be distributed to the farmers very soon, Zakia added.
