JAMALPUR, July 2, 2023 (BSS) - The Agriculture Department has fixed a target of T-Aman (Transplanted Aman) cultivation on 1,11,000 hectares of land with a production target of 3, 32,194 tons of rice in the district this current Kharip-2 season.
According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources, of the target, 31000 hectares with a production target of 90294 tons is in Jamalpur sadar while 15210 hectares with a production target of 44626 tons in Sarishabari, 17060 hectares with a production target of 49252 tons in Melandah, 10730 hectares with a production target 29408 tons in Islampur, 8655 hectares with a production target 27022 tons in Dewanganj, 15110 hectares with a production target 46464 tons in Madarganj and 13235 hectares with a production target 45128 tons in Bakshiganj.
The agriculture department sources said the farmers prepared T- Aman seed bed on 1100 hectares of land against the target of 5381 hectares of land till on July 2.
To increase food production, 8000 small and marginal farmers in all the seven upazilas of the district got incentive on HYV seed and fertilizer for cultivation of T-Aman. Each of the farmers got five kilograms of Aush paddy seed, 10 kilograms Di-ammonium phosphate ( DAP) fertilizer and 10 kilograms Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land. Besides, 4000 small and marginal farmers also got high-breed variety seed free of cost under the incentive programme.
Deputy Director, DAE, Zakia Sultana said, to increase food production, incentive on T-Aman cultivation was disbursed among the farmers in the district. Preparation of T-Aman seed bed is continuing, she added.
