Farmers cultivate Boro on 1.28 lakh hectares in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, March 14, 2023 (BSS) - Farmers in the district have completed Boro cultivation on 1,28,280 hectares of land with a production target of 567012 tonnes of rice this year.
 
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said farmers cultivated High-breed Boro paddy on 52,452 hectares of land with a production target of 2,60,162 tonnes rice, High Yielding Variety on 77,550 hectares of land with a production target of 3,06,322 tonnes and local on 278 hectares of land with a production target of 528 tonnes of rice.
 
The DAE office sources said farmers cultivated boro on 34,665 hectares of land in Jamalpur Sadar upazila while 18,548 hectares in Sarishabari, 20,150 hectares in Melandah, 16,980 hectares in Islampur, 8,325 hectares in Dewanganj, 16,250 hectares in Madarganj and 13,362 hectares of land in Bakshiganj upazila.
 
Additional deputy director of DAE Md Harun Or Rashid said farmers completed the cultivation timely as availability of Boro seedling, fertilizer and other agriculture inputs, cultivation of short duration variety crops and motivational activities of agriculture department.
