Govt to set up land information bank in each district: Saifuzzaman

KHULNA, Jan 26, 2021(BSS) – Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said here today the government is working tirelessly to set up a harassment-and corruption-free digital land management system.

To increase transparency and efficiency in the land administration, the land minister urged the deputy commissioners (DCs) and land officials to take effective steps to protect the government lands, saying the government will introduce sustainable digital land information bank in each district across the country.

“We are trying to develop a modern digital land management system where people will get service in their residence,” the minister said while inaugurating the country’s first ever sustainable digital land information bank at a function at Khulna deputy commissioner’s(DC) conference room as chief guest this afternoon.

Digital land information bank, an innovative unique initiative by the Khulna district administration, will help people to collect any land related information including hundred percent khas land identification along with picture, vested and abandoned land, to make database and archive.

The bank will also be considered a milestone to get land service and khas land, wetland and hat-bazar management.

Describing numerous development activities of the present government led by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the land minister said people will pay land revenue, tax from their home very soon.

Terming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a leader with vision and mission, the land minister said land related problems will be solved after the developing land management system.

All kinds of harassment and corruption will be eliminated, he said, adding that at first people should change their mind set, without changing behavior the country’s sustainable development is impossible

The minister asked the government employees to speed up their activities to keep up the ongoing development spree to make Bangladesh a developed and prosperous country.

He said that the progress of the country should be continued to achieve the cherished goal of independence and make Bangladesh poverty-and hunger-free as dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Chaired by Khulna deputy commissioner (DC) Md Helal Hossain, Khulna City mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, secretary of Land Ministry Md Mustafizur Rahman, chairman (Secretary) of Land Maintenance Board Md Mostofa Kamal, Khulna divisional commissioner Ismail Hossain and Zila Parishad chairman Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, among others, spoke the occasion.

Later, the land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury inaugurated the digital land information bank.
