Two-day farmers training ends in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Nov 15, 2017 (BSS) – A two-day long livelihood training entitled “Cereal Crops and Oil Seed Production” for farmers ended at the training centre of an NGO at Madnerpara in Fulchhari upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.

Friendship, a reputed voluntary NGO of the country, arranged the training for char farmers of Fulchhari and Sadar upazilas under Good Governance Project with the financial support of Eriks Development Partner of Sweden and Friendship Luxemburg.

The purpose of the training was to train up the char farmers so they could produce various crops like Boro paddy, Aman paddy, wheat, maize, groundnut, mustard, sesame and linseed properly to achieve country’s food security, said Nazmul Hossain, assistant project manager.

Sub assistant agriculture officer at department of agriculture extension (DAE) M. Abdur Rab and Mehedi Hasan conducted the training sessions while project manager of Good Governance project Amdadul Hoque monitored the training on behalf of the organization.

A total of 30 farmers including five women from different chars of the upazilas took part in the training.
