Experts for leading systematic life to reduce hypertension risks

RANGPUR, May 18, 2021 (BSS) – Health experts at a pre-rally discussion have stressed on leading systematic life to control hypertension or high blood pressure (HBP) and keep it within safe range for reducing risks of the silent killer disease.

They viewed this at the discussion organised by Hypertension and Research Centre, Rangpur (HRCR) at its office premises on Monday afternoon in observance of the World Hypertension Day-2021.

The HRCR chalked out limited scale programmes including a rally, brief discussion and awareness raising campaign to observe the day abiding by the health directives in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The RHRC, a sister organisation of ‘Wasim-Waleda Bahumukhi Kallyan Foundation’ and Member of the World Hypertension League, has been observing the day since 2009 in Rangpur city.

Later, a limited scale rally was brought out on the streets to make the people aware of severe consequences of hypertension and uncontrolled HBP to reduce risks of heart attacks, brain hemorrhage, damages of kidney, eyesight and many other organs.

Founding President of HRCR and former Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) Professor Dr Md. Zakir Hossain virtually addressed the discussion as the chief guest.

General Secretary of HRCR and Prof of the Department of Medicine at RpMC Dr Shah Md Sarwar Jahan delivered a welcome speech while Dr Kawser Ahmed presented the keynote essay in the discussion.

Advisor of HRCR and Vice-principal of RpMC Prof Dr Md Mahfuzer Rahman, Consultants of HRCR Dr Probal Sutradhar, Dr. ASM Rahenur Mondal Apel, Dr Md Mostafa Alam Bony, Dr Md Tauhidul Islam Tuhin, Dr Shushanto Kumar Barman, Dr Md Ruhul Amin and Dr Manjurul Hassan Menon addressed.

With executive member of RHRC Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu in the chair, the discussion was moderated by its Chief Executive Officer Md Anwar Hossain.

Prof Zakir said one in every five persons is currently suffering from hypertension or HBP in Bangladesh and put maximum emphasis on bringing the rising number of such patients under control right now to keep the satiation under control.

“Any person can suffer from HBP, especially after 45, when problems may occur in the blood circulation process creating hypertension, uneasiness and illness and suggested to check up blood pressure regularly,” he said.

He suggested people to keep HBP within safe range by leaving smoking, taking required medicines, appropriate foods, walking and physical exercise to lead a safer life and avoid heart attacks, stroke, kidney ailments, diabetes and other deadly diseases.
