28,524 heal from Covid-19 as 111 recover afresh in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 5, 2021 (BSS) – With recoveries of 111 more coronavirus infected people on Tuesday, the total number of cured patients from the lethal virus reached 28,524 in the division, said an official report here today.

A total of 3,637 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, it said.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health, said the death toll from the virus rose to 493, including 297 in Bogura and 73 in Rajshahi including 47 in its city while three more fatalities reported afresh today.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 7,884 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 6,634 have already been released.

Meanwhile, with the detection of 126 new positive cases, the daily infection rate shows escalation compared to the previous day’s figure of 102, raising the total number of infected patients to 32,186, Dr Habibul said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest 27 were detected in Naogaon, followed by 25 in Pabna, 19 in Rajshahi city, 18 in Bogura, 13 in Chapainawabganj, 12 in Sirajganj, seven in Joypurhat and five in Natore districts.
With the newly detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the Covid-19 patients now stands at 7,883 in Rajshahi including 6,304 in its city, 1,016 in Chapainawabganj, 2,051 in Naogaon, 1,548 in Natore, 1,595 in Joypurhat, 11,920 in Bogura, 3,438 in Sirajganj and 2,735 in Pabna.

On the other hand, 123 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 157 others were released from quarantine during the last 24 hours till 8 am today in the division.

A total of 70,927 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 69,080 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
