Voting officials urged to carry out duties with utmost sincerity

GAIBANDHA, Jan, 2021 (BSS) – Speakers in a function here today urged the
officials who are engaged in the forthcoming Gobindaganj Municipal Polls to
carry out their election duties with utmost sincerity, honesty and without
any fear.

“It is our foremost duty to present acceptable municipal polls where the
people’s hopes and expectations will be reflected properly,” they said.

They made the comments while addressing an inaugural function of daylong
election training for the presiding officers and assistant presiding officers
at the hall room of Gobindaganj Government High School here.

Upazila Election Office organised the function at the directives of
Election Commission Bangladesh.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Abdus Samad addressed the programme as the
chief guest while Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Towhidul Islam and
Regional Election Officer Sarker Ashraful Alam were present as special guests
with District Returning Officer Abdul Mottalib in the chair.

UNO Ramkrishna Barman, Upazila Election Officer Syed Abu Sayeed and
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Thana AKM Mehedi Hasan also spoke at
the function, among others.

The DC also asked them to be more serious, alert and assertive on the day
of the election so that the voters could cast their votes peacefully and
properly.

A total of 20 presiding officers and 195 assistant presiding officers and
193 polling officers took part in the training.

Mentionable, a total of 29,979 voters–14,674 are male and 15,305 are
female– will cast their votes to elect mayor, nine councilors and three
reserved female councilors, office sources said.
