Tamim hints to break winning combination for third ODI

DHAKA, Jan 22, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal indicated
that they would bring up some changes in the team for the third ODI
against West Indies to be played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in
Chattogram on Monday.

The winning combination will be broken to give some other players a
chance to play the game as Bangladesh had already confirmed the series
after their seven-wicket win over West Indies in the second match.
Bangladesh who won the first match by six wickets now leads the
three-match series 2-0.

“Players like Taskin, Saifuddin have not got a spot in the XI.
There’s a healthy competition going on,” Tamim said here today.

“[Looking ahead to Chattogram] No it won’t be a worrying sign.
Everyone should get an opportunity to play. All the guys who haven’t
gotten an opportunity to play are capable of doing well. I am sure we
will have some changes in the third ODI, and let’s hope whoever comes
in does well,” he added.

After scoring 44 in the first match, Tamim made 50 in the second
game to lead the side from the front following Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s
career-best 4-25, which shot West Indies out for paltry 148 in 43.4
overs.

Tamim’s 48th ODI fifty helped the side chase the target in 33.2
overs. Tamim said he is happy to bring up the fifty after some quite
long time.

“It was nice to spend some time in the middle. There’s a lot of
hunger in the dressing room. Everyone wants to do well,” he remarked.
