No alternative to education for building prosperous country: Sharif

MYMENSINGH, Jan 11, 2021 (BSS) – Noting that there is no alternative to education for building a prosperous and developed country, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed today said the government gained significant achievement in all sector especially education.

He was virtually addressing as the chief guest a workshop held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner here organized by Bureau of Non-Formal Education this noon.

Deputy Commissioner Md Mizanur Rahman and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Ahamaruzzaman addressed as special guests with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Nasrin Sultana in the chair.

Deputy Director of Local Government Division Galib Khan, District Primary Education Officer Shafiqul Haque and Super of Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) Rakibul Islam Talukder, among others, spoke.

Assistant Director of Bureau of Non-Formal Education Rasheda Islam delivered welcome speech while AKM Sujaur Islam presented the keynote paper.

The state minister said the dropout in primary level has come down at a significance rate as the government has taken various effective initiatives in this regard.

He said the country has been forwarding to a developed nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“This government distributed text books to the students of primary and secondary level free of cost at the outset of new year,” he said.

Sharif urged the concerned officials to work to implement the non-formal education programme with sincerity and honesty.

The officials of primary and non-formal education and representatives of different NGOs were also present.
