93.92pc COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Jan 9, 2021 (BSS) – Some 93.92 percent coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients have already recovered in Rangpur division where the daily infection rate continues to decline consistently in recent weeks.

“A total of 14,547 coronavirus patients out of total 15,488 have cured at the average recovery rate of 93.92 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

Meanwhile, a total of 97,406 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Friday, and of them, 15,488 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 15.90 percent.

Meanwhile, 33 more coronavirus infected patients recovered on Friday raising their total number to 14,547 in the division.

The 14,547 recovered COVID-19 patients include 3,507 of Rangpur, 740 of Panchagarh, 1,282 of Nilphamari, 939 of Lalmonirhat, 949 of Kurigram, 1,387 of Thakurgaon, 4,344 of Dinajpur and 1,399 of Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddique said.

Meanwhile, 23 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 282 collected samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories with the daily infection rate of 8.16 percent on Friday raising the total number of patients to 15,488 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of the total 15,488 patients stands at 3,952 in Rangpur, 774 in Panchagarh, 1,312 in Nilphamari, 957 in Lalmonirhat, 1,001 in Kurigram, 1,493 in Thakurgaon, 4,559 in Dinajpur and 1,440 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the daily COVID-19 infection rate remained below 10 percent while recovery rate increased during the last more than two weeks in Rangpur division.

The daily COVID-19 infection rates were 8.16 percent on Friday, 6.81 percent on Thursday, 7.10 percent on Wednesday, 7.73 percent on Tuesday, 9.50 percent on Monday and 4.02 percent on Sunday last in the division.

Meanwhile, the number of fatalities remained steady at 300 in the division with no more deaths reported from anywhere on Friday.

The district-wise break-up of the 300 fatalities stands at 70 in Rangpur, 108 in Dinajpur, 32 in Thakurgaon, 27 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said.

The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.94 percent in the division.

“Among the total 15,488 COVID-19 infected patients, 28 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 14,547 patients and 300 deaths while 613 remaining in home isolations across the division,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said the rate of COVID-19 spread continues declining consistently in recent weeks in the division.

“Common people should sincerely wear masks and strictly abide by the health directives to remain safe and prevent further community spread of the deadly virus in the division,” he added.
