Ensuring healthcare services to the rural people stressed

RAJSHAHI, Dec 27, 2020 (BSS)- Speakers at a meeting unequivocally called
for ensuring healthcare services particularly the maternal, neonatal and
child health to the rural people for welfare of them.

Protecting maternal, neonatal and child health, particularly in the rural
and village level, can be the crucial means of building a healthy nation.

The discussants came up with the observation while addressing the meeting
of Bagmara Upazila Health Management Committee in order to improve the health
status through mitigating barriers and challenges of upazila health complex
and other primary healthcare institutions.

Engineer Enamul Haque, MP, addressed the meeting as chief guest, while
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Golam Rabbani was in the chair
held at the conference hall of Saleha Emarat Cold Storage on Saturday.

Upazila Chairman Anil Kumar Sarker, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sharif Ahmmed,
Social Service Officer Abdul Momin and Resident Medical Officers Dr Nasir
Uddin and Dr Tanvir Rahman also spoke.

Lawmaker Enamul Haque said utmost emphasis should be given to expedite the
services related to maternal, neonatal and child health in the grassroots
level through proper functioning of the union health and family welfare
centre, union sub centre and upazila health complex.

He said the effective and excellent dynamism into the essential service
delivery activities of union health and family welfare center and union sub
center is very important for ensuring healthcare services to marginal
communities.

Engineer Haque mentioned that concerted efforts of government and public
entities along with NGOs can greatly enhance effective maternal neonatal and
child health services in grassroots.

On the occasion, Manager of the Public Health Improvement Initiative
Rajshahi (PHIIR) Project Tozammel Haque presented a concept paper giving an
overview of the existing healthcare services of the upazila and union level
service delivery institutions.

He told the meeting that DASCOH Foundation, a non-governmental development
organization, has been implementing the project with the main focus of
improving health standards at primary health care and mother, neonatal and
child health centres that will supplement the government efforts of attaining
the target of the seventh five-year plan and SDG.
