COX’S BAZAR, Aug 6, 2020 (BSS) – Seven accused in the case filed

rejecting their bail plea as they surrendered to Cox’s Bazar Senior
Judicial Magistrate Court here today.

The court also granted a seven-day remand for first three accused
and asked the investigation agency Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to
quiz the four others at the jail gate on RAB’s plea of 10-day remand
for the seven accused.

Judge of the senior judicial magistrate court Helal Uddin passed the order.

Public prosecutor Advocate Faridul Islam stood for the state while
Advocate Rakhal Chandra Mitra and Advocate Md Jakaria represented the
accused in the court.

On Wednesday, Sinha’s elder sister Sharmin Shahriya Ferdous filed a
case accusing nine persons in the death incident of the retired army

Baharchhara investigation centre, Teknaf thana OC Pradip Kumar Das,
sub-inspector (SI) Nanda Dulal Rakkhit, constables Safanur Karim,
Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun, assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs)

On that day, the court took the case in cognizance giving order to

the case was filed at the police station after the court order reached
there at 10pm on Wednesday.

Members of RAB and police took Teknaf OC Pradip Kumar Das, the

Police sources said Sinha Rashed Khan, who retired as a major in
the Bangladesh Army, was coming to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf in his
private vehicle with another person around 10:30pm on Friday.

When police halted his vehicle at Shamlapur Baharchhara check-post
under Teknaf thana on marine drive and attempted a search, an
altercation ensued.

Police then opened fire as the army officer brandished his pistol.
The army officer was seriously injured and was taken to Cox’s Bazaar
Sadar Hospital where on-duty physicians declared him dead.

The government formed a high-powered body to probe into the death
