Tunisia to send 2 military planes with food aid, medical supplies to Lebanon
TUNIS, Aug 5, 2020 (BSS/XINHUA) – Tunisian President Kais Saied ordered to send two military planes loaded with food aid and medical supplies to the Lebanese capital which was rocked by explosions on Tuesday, Tunisian presidency said Wednesday.
A total of 100 wounded from the explosions will be received in Tunisia and placed under medical supervision in Tunisian hospitals, including the military hospital in the capital Tunis, according to a presidency statement.
Earlier, Tunisian Caretaker Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh met with Lebanon’s Ambassador to Tunisia Tony Frangieh.
“Fakhfakh offered his condolences, on behalf of the Tunisian government and people, to the Lebanese people following the two huge explosions that rocked the port of Beirut Tuesday,” said a statement released by the government.
Fakhfakh also expressed to the Lebanese diplomat the solidarity of the Tunisian government with Lebanon and its people, wishing a speedy recovery for all the injured.
