135 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 29, 2020 (BSS) – More 135 people were tested positive
for coronavirus (COVID-19) today at two COVID-19 laboratories in
Rangpur division where a limited scale community transmission of the
deadly virus continues at places.

Health officials said the 135 new infected cases were reported
after diagnosing 470 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the two laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, 47 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 47 patients include 17 of Rangpur, five of Lalmonirhat,
nine of Gaibandha and 16 of Kurigram districts,” said Chief of
Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal
of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 88 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 282 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 88 new COVID-19 patients include 62 of Dinajpur, four of
Nilphamari, seven of Thakurgaon, 14 of Panchagarh and one of
Lalmonirhat districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh
Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 8 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
stridently rose to 6,073 as 135 new cases were reported from across
the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 6,073 patients currently
stands at 1,671 in Rangpur, 312 in Panchagarh, 648 in Nilphamari, 375
in Lalmonirhat, 470 in Kurigram, 363 in Thakurgaon, 1,595 in Dinajpur
and 639 Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
