Tajul warns of stern action against corruption in local govt projects

DHAKA, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) minister Md Tajul Islam today said stern action would be taken if anyone is found involved with corruption and irregularities in the projects under his ministry.

“The government has taken a zero tolerance policy towards corruption. If any official gets involved in wrongdoings, he or she would not be spared,” he said while presiding over a programme titled ‘Revised Annual Development Programme (RADP) for financial year 2019-2020 with local government division and different sectors, under the divisions’ at his ministry through virtual platform, an official release said.

The minister said to ensure sustainable development quality must be ensured at all levels.

He asked the top officials to inform his ministry if they face any kind of problems while performing their duties.

“Officials performing their duties with sincerity and honesty will be rewarded,” Tajul said.

He said, adding like other countries, work of various development projects have been largely hampered due to COVID-19 crisis, to recover this loss have to work with sincerity and dedication.
