Govt forms coordination cell to prevent COVID-19 spread
DHAKA, June 28, 2020 (BSS)- The Local Government Division (LGD) under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives has formed a coordination cell to prevent the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) across the country.
A meeting, chaired by Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Md Tajul Islam, was held today in the conference room of the local government division of the ministry here to fix the tasks of the coordination cell, a press release said.
During the meeting, the Tajul Islam said that the cell will monitor the responsibilities given to all the institutions under the local government ministry such as providing food, medicine and other necessities to the people in those lockdown areas, declared by the health department, it added.
A 15-member committee was formed in this regard on June 23 making LGD additional secretary Zahirul Islam as its convener.
