DHAKA, Oct 23, 2019 (BSS)-Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) fitness trainer
Mario Villavarayan had to sit idle on Wednesday after no cricketers turned up
for their fitness session at the Academy ground in the Sher-e-Bangla National
Cricket Stadium.

The players were due to attend an optional fitness and gym session,
under the supervision of Villavarayan.

But as they called for an indefinite strike to press home for their 11-
point demand, the players opted out the session. Only injured pace-bowling
all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin was seen in the academy premises though he
didn’t take part in any session.

After finding no cricketers in the ground, Villavarayan, however, went
back to BCB office. The Sri Lankan born fitness trainers later refused to
make any comments.

Shortly after that the BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that
finally they were able to contact the cricketers and called them for a
bilateral meeting to resolve the crisis.

National opener Tamim Iqbal who received the call said the CEO that they
would take decision on whether they would sit with BCB after discussing with
their colleagues.

However, when the impasse was going on, BCB president Nazmul Hassan
Papon and director Naimur Rahman Durjoy went to Gono Bhaban to meet the Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina.

After meeting with the Prime Minister, both of the BCB high ups came
back to Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Media Communications chairman Jalal Younus said that the BCB president
and other directors are waiting for the players as they hope that they would
sit with BCB to resolve the ongoing crisis
