73rd birthday of Sheikh Hasina celebrated in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Sept 28, 2019 (BSS)- The 73rd birthday of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), was
celebrated in the city as elsewhere in the district today seeking blessings
for her good health and long life.
AL and its affiliated organizations, scores of cultural, social and
literary organizations, educational institutions, celebrated the day through
daylong programms.
The programmes included Milad, doa Mahfils, discussion meetings, rallies,
processions, discussion meetings and special prayers.
To mark the day, City AL and its front organizations brought out a
procession on the occasion from city’s Engineers Institution premises and
organized a discussion meeting there.
Acting President of Chattogram city AL Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided
over the function while Mayor of Chattogram city corporation AJM Nasir Uddin,
AL leaders – Noyeem Uddin Chowdhury, Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury,
Bodiul Alam, Advocate Iftaker Saimul Chowdhury, Chairman of Chattogram
Development Authority Jahirul Alam Dovas and panel mayor Hasan Mahmud Hasni,
among others, participated in the rally and addressed the discussion meeting.
Addressing the discussion meeting, City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said under
the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has now become a
role model for development, attaining steady economic growth, self-
sufficiency in food and attaining remarkable progress in the fields of women
empowerment, agriculture, education, health, communication, energy and power,
trade and commerce, ICT and the SME sectors.
Other speakers discussed the life and achievements of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina and said she is driving the nation towards prosperity following
the footsteps of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
As part of the birth anniversary programme, Chattogram north district AL
organized a discussion meeting at its Doost building office this noon with
its acting President Fazle Karim Chowdhury, MP, in the chair.
Former Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, its General secretary MA
Salam, its vice President Jitendro Prasad Nath Montoo and leaders of
different level of AL north district, addressed the meeting.
Speaking at the function, Mosharraf Hossain highlighted Sheikh Hasina’s
achievement in driving the country towards economic emancipation and building
a good image of Bangladesh in the international level.
He highly lauded her role in fighting against terrorism, militancy and
corruption.
Chattogram south district AL also organized a separate discussion meeting
in the Zila Parisad auditorium with its vice President Abul Kalam Chowdhury
in the chair.
Ekushey award winner Dr Anupom Sen, member of the AL advisory council,
general secretary of south district AL Mofizur Rahman, among others,
addressed the function.
Dr Anupom Sen prayed for long life of Sheikh Hasina, who is continuing her
relentless efforts to build a hunger and poverty-free country.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina’s Birthday Celebration Committee organized a
discussion meeting at Andarkillah crossing this evening.
City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin addressed the function as chief guest.
Committee convenor poet Arun Das Gupto, its secretary journalist Chowdhury
Farid President of TV journalist Association Nasir Uddin Tota, Smarik League
Central leader Safar Ali, MA Mannan Shimul, and Engineer Rashedur Rahman
Millon, among others, addressed the discussion.
City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin distributed prizes among the winners of a quiz
competition.
Earlier, a cake was cut on the occasion of Sheikh Hasina’s birth
anniversary.
Special prayers were also offered in all places of worships, including
mosques, temple and monasteries, seeking her long life and sound health as
well as continued peace and progress of the nation.
