DHAKA, April 08, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sent Tasvir Ul Islam,
one of the owners of FR Tower, and SMHI Faruque, the land owner of the
building, to jail, scrapping their bail pleas in the case filed over March 28
inferno that killed 27 people and injured 70 others.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the
order and also asked the jail authorities to arrange treatment for the
accused as per the jail code.

The court came up with the order as police produced the duo before it
after the end of their seven days remand. The investigation officer and
inspector of detective branch (DB) of police Jalal Uddin at the time pleaded
to keep them behind bars for the sake of proper investigation.

Earlier on March 31, the court placed Tasvir Ul Islam and SMHI Faruque on
seven-day remand.

Tasvir, also a leader of BNP, and Faruque have been blamed for collusion
in causing loss of lives and properties with evil intention, causing loss of
lives, severe injuries and damage to properties in fire caused by severe
negligence, in the case.

Banani Police Box in-charge sub-inspector Milton Dutta filed the case
with Banani Police Station on March 30 against Tasvir and Faruque and Rupayon
Group chairman Liyakat Ali Khan Mukul.

The case later transferred to DB for investigation. Tasvir and Faruque
too were arrested on the night of March 30 from different areas of the
capital.
