Chittagong post win in first super over in BPL history

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2019 (BSS)- All the drama finally came to an end as
Chittagong Vikings won the match against Khulna Titans by virtue of first
super over in the 11th match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 at
Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.

Chasing a winning target of 152 runs set by Khulna, Chittagong scored 151
for 8 in 20 overs that led the match to super over for the first time in BPL
history.

In the super over, Chittagong Vikings scored 11 runs while chasing winning
target of 12-run, Khulna Titans was able to pick up 10 runs for the loss of
one wicket.

Earlier, Chittagong Vikings needed 19 runs off the final over to win the
match.

Ariful after getting hit for a six off the second ball removed Nayeem and
it seemed like it was all over at that point. But Frylinck had other ideas as
he smashed two sixes off the next two balls and leveled the scores. However,
he failed to connect the last ball and ran himself out.

Cameo Robbie Frylinck blazed 13-ball off 23-run hitting one boundary and
two over boundaries before he fell victim of run out in the crucial point
putting an end to all hopes of Vikings after Yasir Ali (41) and Mushfiqur
Rahim (34) paved the way for Chittagong.

Carlos Brathwaite and Shariful Islam shared four Khulna’s wickets
conceding 30 and 31 runs respectively.

After winning the match, Chittagong Vikings skipper Mushfiqur Rahim said
it was a great game of cricket … and all credit goes to Frylinck. He has a
great career ahead of him (Yasir Ali) and hoped that he would be able to
score big in the future matches.

Khulna Titans skipper Mahmudullah said it was a good opportunity for them
to win the match. Losing four matches in a row will definitely put them under
pressure and at the same time he hoped to execute their plans in the next
matches.

Frylinck of Chittagong Vikings was named the player of the match for his
brilliant bowling performance. Earlier, Khulna Tiatans scored a competitive
total of 151 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs after they were forced to bat
first by Chittagong Vikings.

English batsman Dawid Malan top scored for Khulna with 43-ball off 45-run
hitting three boundaries and one over boundary and during the process he
scored 77 runs for the third wicket stand along with skipper Mahmudullah who
contributed 31-ball off 33 runs laced with four boundaries.

Opener Junaid Siddique (20) and Paul String (18) were the other notable
scorers for Khulna Titans.

Sunzamul Islam was the pick of Chittagong Vikings bowler as he claimed two
wickets conceding 37 runs.

Sunday’s matches: Rangpur Riders vs Rajshahi Kings (1.30 pm) and
