Maritime ports advised to hoist signal no 1 instead of 2

DHAKA, Jan 6, 2019 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar,
Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local warning signal number one,
lowering the distant warning signal number two, as the cyclonic storm ‘Pabuk’
weakened into a deep depression .

“The cyclonic storm ‘Pabuk’ over the Andaman Sea and adjoining areas moved
towards northwestwards and weakened into a deep depression over the same area
at 6 pm today,” said a special weather bulletin here this evening.

It is likely to move towards a north or northwesterly direction further,
the bulletin added.

According to the bulletin, maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of
the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts or
squalls. Sea will remain rough due to the depression.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to
remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They
are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
