RMP to ensure foolproof security for Durga Puja celebration

RAJSHAHI, Oct 4, 2018 (BSS)-Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) will adopt
foolproof security measures for ensuring a successful celebration of
forthcoming Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu
community, everywhere in Rajshahi city.

The RMP authorities expressed the commitment while holding a view-sharing
meeting with leaders and members of Puja Udjapan Parishad (PUP) on Saradiya
Durga Puja at RMP headquarters here on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed and devised ways and means to ensure a peaceful law
and order situation during the Puja celebration.

Chaired by RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter, the meeting was addressed by
Additional Commissioner Sujayet Islam and Deputy Commissioners Tanveer Haider
Chowdhury, Amir Jafar, Sazid Hossain, Hemayetul Islam, Abu Ahammad Al Mamun,
Saiful Islam, Joynul Abedeen, Anirban Chakma, Saifuddin Shahin and Alamgir
Hossain.

On behalf of the PUP, Alok Kumar Das, Advocate Sharat Chandra Sarker, Anil
Kumar, Dr Sujit Kumar Sarker and Shamayal Kumar, among others, joined the
meeting and took part in open discussion.

The meeting was told that the puja will be celebrated at 97 mondaps in the
city from October 14 to 19 as elsewhere in the country.

In his remarks, RMP Commissioner Hafiz Akter said there will be adequate
security measures centering the puja celebration and intelligence activities
have already been enhanced to this end.

He urged the PUP leaders to set up close circuit cameras in the major puja
mondaps and arrange separate incoming and outgoing ways for male and female
devotees.

The RMP chief also asked the officers-in-charge of the police stations to
keep close contact with the puja committees round the clock. He urged the
traffic division to ensure improved traffic management during the festival.
