ACC clears charge-sheet against 71 over passport scam
DHAKA, Sept 27, 2018 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today
approved submission of a charge-sheet in a case filed against 71 people,
including eight staff of Agargaon passport office, on charges of issuing
official passports to ordinary people.
The ACC gave the approval for submitting the charge-sheet before a court
after receiving an investigation report submitted by its assistant director
Md Shafiullah.
The ACC investigation has found that all the 71 people were involved in
the passport scam while official passports were issued to 65 ordinary people
from Agargaon passport office, Dhaka, by preparing fake documents.
The charge-sheet will be submitted before court under sections
409/420/467/471 and 109 of the Penal Code and section 5 (2) of the Prevention
of Corruption Act, 1947.
Earlier, ACC deputy director Md Benzir Ahmed filed a case against 71 people
with Sher-e-Banglanagar Police Station in this regard.
The eight officials of the Department of Immigration and Passports named
in the charge-sheet are director (terminated) Munshi Muid Ikram, Md Shahjahan
Miah, Md Saiful Islam, SM Nazrul Islam, SM Shajahan, Umme Kulsum, Nasrin
Parvin Nupur and Md Anwarul Huq.
