Govt working to resolve cooking energy problem for Rohingyas

COX’S BAZAR, Sept 17, 2018 (BSS) – Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury

Maya today said the government is working to solve cooking energy problems for Rohingya people.

“With assistance of international community, we are taking different initiatives for removing energy problems

permanently,” he told a distribution function of cooking materials among Rohingya people in the district.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief

Md Shah Kamal, Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Hafiz Ahmed Majumdar, among others, were present

at the function.

The Indian government donated 11 lakh liters of Kerosene and 20,000 stoves to Bangladesh as relief materials.

Maya urged the international community to provide their relief assistances for supporting Rohingya people who were

forcibly displaced from Rakhine State of Myanmar.

“Alongside supporting Rohinga people, we should protect local environment through stopping cutting down of trees,” he

added.
