Kamal for increasing FDI to achieve development goals

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2018 (BSS) – Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today asked the business community to work together for increasing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to achieve the goals of developing the country.

“We will have to increase FDI for achieving development goals, including Vision-2021 and Vision-2041. So, the government is providing support to increase FDI through developing infrastructures and ensuring energy facilities,” he said.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a business networking luncheon meeting with nation’s top and successful entrepreneurs at the Westin hotel in the city.

Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) hosted the business networking luncheon meeting. The theme of the event was “Emerging Bangladesh: Business Friendly Policies and Plans”.

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam was present as special guest while BGCCI Executive Director MA Matin was the anchor of the event.

Kamal said there will be huge flow of FDI because of setting up of economic zones across the country. The government has also taken initiatives to create skilled workforce and ensure roads and highways and port facilities, he added.

Aminul Islam said private sector investment is a major precondition to develop the economy of a country, so the government is very cordial to develop the private sector.

“The government is implementing different programmes to make easier
of doing business in the country,” he added.
