RAJSHAHI, Nov 27, 2017 (BSS)- Communication development and improving relations between technical institutions and industries is very important for providing time-fitting technical teaching to the students and employment for achieving sustainable development goals.

This view was expressed at a job fair seminar by a host of speakers who urged all concerned to ensure quality education to the technical students so that they could be transformed into worthy citizens.

Rajshahi Mohila Polytechnic institute (RMPI) organized the daylong Job Fair and Placement Seminar on Sunday for the first time at its premises with financial support from Bangladesh Skills for Employment and Productivity (B-SEP) Project, ILO Dhaka Office.

Chairman of ENA Group Engineer Enamul Haque, MP, addressed the seminar as chief guest with RMPI Principal Omar Faruk in the chair.

Director (Vocational) of Directorate of Technical Education Dr Nurul Islam, Programme Officer of ILO Serajul Islam and Principal of Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute Engineer Farid Ahmed spoke as special guests.

During his keynote presentation, Zillur Rahman, Consultant (Mobilization and Communication) of Skills and Training Enhancement Project, gave an overview of the country’s technical and vocational education.

Chief Guest Engineer Enamul Haque said the present government with dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attached top priority to the technical education. It has set target to upgrade the technical education to 20 percent by 2020.

He said, “We’ve already elevated to the lower middle-income status from the lower-income nation by dint of the prudent and pragmatic policy of the present government.”

Within a shortest possible time Bangladesh will stand to the middle income category, he added.

In the daylong fair, 41 RMPI graduates were job ensured and 100 others included for a job placement panel.
