BNP making blueprint of huge violence like in 2014: Quader

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said BNP is making a blueprint to carry out widespread violence across the country ahead of the forthcoming national polls like in 2014.

“The country’s people will give proper reply if they (BNP) resort to any violence…Now, BNP is looking for excuses to boycott the next parliament polls fearing defeat in the election,” he told the journalists after visiting Gabtali Bus Terminal here to see the Eid journey of home-bound people.

Quader said the next general election will be held as per the constitution. The election will be held under the Election Commission (EC) and the present government will act as the polls-time government as per the constitution, he added.

The polls-time government will cooperate with the EC to make the election free, fair, peaceful and credible and the government will not take any important decision during the election time, he said.

The ruling party general secretary said BNP doesn’t abide by rules, laws and the constitution.

About the BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Quader said the AL activists and police did not put any barricade in front of Moudud’s house. He went there to create a drama after failing to wage a movement riding on the quota reformists and school-college students.

The minister said Moudud was in power for a long time, but didn’t do anything for the people of his electoral constituency. Now he is going there to increase his popularity, he added.

Quader also urged the journalists to take information from their local correspondents to unearth the real incident of Moudud.

Regarding the dialogue, Quader said, “No dialogue will be held with BNP ahead of the parliament polls. If they (BNP) want dialogue, then it could be held after the polls.”

About the Eid journey, he said the situation of the country’s roads and highways is better than before.

He hoped that the Eid journey will be comfortable this time.
