Discussion on Bangabandhu held at JU

SAVAR, Aug 14, 2018 (BSS) – A discussion titled “Bangabandhu:
Indestructible in Memory” was held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) here
today.

Teacher-Student Center (TSC) of the university organised the function at
Zahir Raihan auditorium around 11 am marking the National Mourning Day and
43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman.

Presided over by JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam, Director
General of Bangla Academy Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan addressed the function as
keynote speaker.

Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan said, “Bangabandhu achieved the honor of being
greatest Bengali for thousand years. He got such honors for his lifelong
struggle for the country and its people.”

Terming Bangabandhu as a literary fan, he said, “Bangabandhu made himself
as a charismatic leader with talent and great personality. He wrote five
books besides of conducting politics and government. Meanwhile, three of his
books have been published.”

JU VC said, “On August 15, 1975, an assassination party killed Bangabandhu
with his whole family. Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana however,
survived as they were abroad. Another attempt was made to kill Sheikh Hasina
on August 21, 2004.”

JU Pro VC Prof Md Amir Hussain, Treasurer Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq, and
Researcher and Columnist Monayem Sarker addressed the function among others.

Earlier, Director General of Bangla Academy Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan
inaugurated a daylong photography exhibition on Bangabandhu in front of Zahir
Raihan auditorium this morning where over 50 photos of Bangabandhu’s struggle
life were exhibited.
