Ex-MP Fazle Elahi passes away

NOAKHALI, Aug 13, 2018 (BSS) – Freedom fighter and former member of
parliament (MP) Fazle Elahi died of old-age complications during undergoing
treatment at a hospital in the town today.

He was 73.

Elahi left behind his wife, two sons, and a host of relatives, followers
and admirers to mourn his death.

He will be buried with state honour at his family graveyard at Sreepur
village under Sadar upazila following his namaj-e-janaza at Sonapur College
ground at 9 am tomorrow.

The freedom fighter was an elected from Noakhali-4 constituency in 1986.
He joined front-fight during the 1971 Liberation War and also was a
Liberation War organiser.

Elahi established many educational institutions, including Sonapur Degree
College and Sonapur Collegiate School.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League (AL) General
Secretary Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock at the death of Elahi.

In a condolence message, the minister prayed for eternal peace of the
departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Besides, local lawmaker and president of the AL district unit Khairul
Anam Selim and its general secretary Mohammed Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, former
freedom fighter commander Mozammel Haque Milan, Noakhali Municipality mayor
Shaheed Ullah Khan Sohel and leaders of different political parties and
organisations also expressed deep shock at his death.
