Bangladesh to attain economic freedom under PM’s leadership: Speaker

RANGPUR, Aug 13, 2018 (BSS) – Speaker of Jatiya Sangshad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has said Bangladesh is moving forward to attain economic freedom under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to realise the
dream of Bangabandhu.

“The Bangalee nation has a glorious history like giving blood for language and achieving ultimate independence through nine-month bloodshed during the War of Liberation,” she said today afternoon while addressing a
rally organised by Chatra union parisahd on its premises in Pirganj upazila as the chief guest.

Dr Shirin said, “It is a matter of pride and greatest achievement for the Bangalee nation to attain independence under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

Terming August as the month of mourning, she said, “August 15 is the darkest chapter in our national life when the conspirators and defeated anti-liberations forces assassinated most of the members of Bangabandhu’s family,
including child Rasel in 1975.”

“However, it is possible to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ by working sincerely through nurturing and following the ideal of Bangabandhu to realise his dream though the killers have assassinated him,” she said.

Dr Shirin said sign of the nationwide massive developments has touched Pirganj upazila where 100 percent area has come under electricity coverage and 44 academy buildings of educational institutions have been constructed
and most of the roads carpeted.

“Side by side with extensive development in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, huge developments have also taken place in the infrastructure sector of Pirganj,” she said.

As part of the massive infrastructural uplifts in the upazila, the long-cherished 301-metre Noondaho Ghat Bridge is being constructed at the cost of Taka 27-crore to establish direct road communication between Pirganj and
Dinajpur to accelerate socioeconomic uplifts in the region.

With Chhatra union Chairman Enamul Haque Shahin in the chair, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Jahangir Alam Bulbul, Senior Vice-president of district Awami League (AL) AKM Chhayadat Hosne Bakul, Acting
President of Pirganj upazila AL Tanjur Imam Md Saiful Newaz Shakil, its General Secretary and Pirganj municipal Mayor Abu Salah Md Tajimul Islam Shamim, District Chhatra League President Mehedee Hasan Rony, among others,
addressed the occasion.

Earlier, Dr Shirin made public contacts and talked to people in streets rallies at Noondaho Ghat Bridge site, Sodapeer Bazar, Neel Daria High School, Ekilimpur Government Primary School and other places in different unions of
the upazila.

While addressing the streets rallies, the Speaker said Bangladesh has become a role model for development of women under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“The present government has promoted women development and empowerment by taking various steps including providing training on sewing, computer and mobile servicing and many other trades.”

The ‘Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar’ project is playing very important role for rural women to become self-reliant through various income generation activities also contributing to the national advancement.

She also discussed benefits of the governments’ massive social safety-net programmes to build a poverty-free society and digitisation, establishing Sheikh Rasel Computer Laboratories at schools and other steps to build a
developed digital Bangladesh.
