MOURNING DAY-GAIBANDHA
National Mourning Day programme in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Aug 12, 2018 (BSS)-The district administration has taken an
elaborate programme to observe the National Mourning Day and the 43rd
martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman on August 15 with due respect and solemnity.
Administration sources said the daylong programme was adopted at a meeting
in presence of leaders of Bangladesh Awami League and its associate bodies,
heads of educational institutions, representatives from socio-cultural
organizations and journalists of the print and electronic media.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gautam Chandra Pal presided over the meeting held
in the conference room of the Collectorate Building here very recently.
The programme includes hoisting of the national flag at half-mast atop all
government, semi government, autonomous and private buildings, placing
wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bijoystambha
in Gaibandha Pourapark and bringing out a mourning procession from there.
The programmes also includes art competition of children, prize
distribution, rendering songs, and reciting poems by Zila Shilpakala Academy,
and special doa and milad mahfil by Islamic Foundation and tabarak
distribution to the poor and discussion meeting on the life of Bangabandhu.
Different sub committees were also formed to observe the day in the
district in a befitting manner.
