ERF-ELECTION-RESULTS
Dilal, Rashidul elected president, GS of ERF
DHAKA, Aug 10, 2018 (BSS) – Saiful Islam Dilal, planning editor of Ekushey TV, was re-elected president of Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF) for two years in an election held on Friday at the ERF office in city’s Paltan area.
SM Rashidul Islam, senior report of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), was elected general secretary of the ERF.
Dilal won against his lone contestant Kawser Rahman, City Editor of The Daily Janakantha, bagging 97 votes. Kawser got 72 votes.
Rashidul Islam got 89 votes while his two contestants Rezvi Newaz of Chanel i and Syful Islam of the Financial Express bagged 46 votes and 33 votes respectively.
Syed Shahnewaz Karim elected vice president bagging the highest 103 votes while Bijwajit Dutta got 65 votes.
Former president of the Bangladesh Federation Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Jatiya Press Club general secretary Farida Yasmin and former JPC president Shaukat Mahmood conducted the election.
A total of 170 members cast their votes in the election held from 3pm to 6pm.
Earlier, ERF’s biennial general meeting was held with outgoing president Saiful Islam Dilal in the chair.
Golam Mainul Ahsan elected assistant general secretary while Shahjahan Siraj Saju elected finance secretary unopposed.
Four executive committee members were elected unopposed earlier. They are Doulat Akter Mala, Md Ashraful Islam, Salahuddin Bablu and Suniti Kumar Biswas.
